THE CAR IS NOT THE STAR
Picasso's great works of art were not dependent upon the brushes he used.
Winners win. The cream rises to the top and always has. Great drivers inevitably end up in great teams. If they don't they pay the price.
I don't care what car they're driving.
If you're an F1 driver it shouldn't matter. If he's racing 2020 F1 cars or VW Beetles the F1 driver maximizes his equipment ... whatever that equipment may be.
The bottom line is ... for as long as we've had cars young men have raced whatever car they can lay their hands on beyond its designer's intended limits. Some are quicker than others.
But quick is not enough.
F1 has always been a championship for race car builders whose drivers bring in the gate. Getting in the right team is a critical skill. As important as braking late.
Is Driver X lucky? That's right. Luck. Sheer blind dumb luck. Beats speed every time.
No-one ever won a race without being quick but no-one ever won a race on quick alone.
How do you measure all that?
RACE PER WIN AND POINTS PER RACE.
This is Sports Annual. We're not talking about guys who drive home fast from the pub OK.
